About this book
By day, Astrid Atomic is a regular six-year-old girl who lives with her two dads, but each night, she transforms into a Space Cadet, an intergalactic helper who zooms across the universe to solve problems and help out wherever she's needed.
Astrid blasts off to join her fellow Space Cadets: Beryl, a pink, round creature from Planet Spangle; Professor Quackers, a duck who is also a brilliant inventor; and Zoink, a non-binary, fluffy, purple alien with exceptionally long arms.
While they are clearing space junk from the Milky Way, the friends receive a distress call from Flora Mulch, an alien from the lush, leafy Planet Hortensis. Giant Snailiens are chomping their way through the vegetation and heading straight for Flora's Astro Spuds, which she had planned to enter in the Oversized Galactic Vegetable category at the Interplanetary County Fair.
The Space Cadets whoosh to the rescue, but will they be able to stop the giant guzzlers from gobbling everything in their path?
This fast-paced, funny cosmic adventure is the first in an exciting new chapter-book series, perfect for newly-confident, independent readers. The magnificent black-and-white illustrations steal the show and are packed full of quirky, imaginative detail and oodles of personality.
