About this book

Philo longs for thrills and excitement, but he lives with his aunt and uncle who have strict schedules for everything, so there’s never time for shenanigans.

However, when he discovers a strange new world through a secret door in the grandfather clock, Philo embarks on an epic, magical adventure beyond his wildest dreams.

The doorway back to his own world is accidentally destroyed, so Philo must find an alternative way home. He is advised to ask the King for help, but as he lives in a flying castle which never lands, contacting him proves to be rather challenging, not to mention dangerous.

On his journey, Philo makes some new friends and meets a multitude of wacky characters, such as the deadly drop-bears, who will turn him inside out if they catch him, and the Midnight Witch, who is known to turn children into teapots.

Riddles, puzzles and philosophical concepts are seamlessly woven into this hilarious tale, providing plenty of fun and laughter as well as food for thought.

Imaginative and utterly bonkers, the book features black-and-white illustrations throughout, and is sure to appeal to fans of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and The Magic Faraway Tree
