Support for Kinship Carers

Sharing stories helps build emotional connections.

Sharing stories with your child is a great way to have a moment of closeness, laughing and talking together. Find tips, videos and support for sharing stories and unlocking the benefits of reading below.

This support has been developed with kinship carers and the charity Kinship as part of Kinship’s new training service for the Department for Education’s Kinship Care Strategy.

It is for all kinship carers in England including informal kinship carers, special guardians and Kinship foster carers. Find out more about the training service on Kinship Compass, an independent information hub for kinship carers.

Kinship care is when a child lives full-time or most of the time with a relative or close family friend, usually because their parents are not able to care for them.
