Imagine

I've been busy with events this week, mainly running around being a rocket. I had a scarily large and well lit audience at the Imagine Festival, so I asked my friend George to help me perform Penguin; he's much better at wearing 'happy hats' than me.

I also told the story of Pretty Pru which is about a very vain chicken who makes herself even more beautiful. I felt at one point that I was giving a seminar to 400 toddlers in how to apply makeup, albeit on elephants and pigs. Perhaps not a good idea? After the event, when I was signing books, there was a pink frothy sea of girls crowding around the table; all with tiny painted fingernails and plastic necklaces. I asked one little girl in a tutu/ball gown if she wore it for special days only. She told me

(quite rightly) that every day is special. I  shall therefore be wearing my rocket hat for the foreseeable...
