the orchestra is hiding
I saw a great show the other night as part of the Edinburgh Jazz Festival and thought I’d share a few tracks. The band was Edinburgh-based Hidden Orchestra, whose debut album Night Walks came out last September. A nine-piece line-up together with harp, electric cello, french horn and very loud drums, this was the first non-acoustic show I’ve taken the little one to and she loved it. Danced like a loony and looked ridiculously cute in her giant baby muffler protective earphones.
Hidden Orchestra play enveloping electro-jazz-noir. Atmospheric, very tight, occasionally spooky, with soaring moments of beauty. The kind of stuff that would be perfect on your headphones when you’re up in the middle of the night writing.

p.s. it's also a beautiful album cover, no?
And I must include this track Antiphon for my friend Hazel because it's her favourite - she loves the (oh so familiar) sound of the Edinburgh rain in the background...
