Sunday Times EFG Short Story Award entry form

Entry Dates

  • Submissions for the 2016 Award will be accepted from Sunday 26 July 2015
  • The DEADLINE for receipt of entries is 6pm (GMT) on Thursday 24 September 2015

 

How to enter (choose one option):

 

Applicants are encouraged to make their submission using the online Entry Form and then submitting their short story by email as early as possible before the deadline. If applicants are unable to access the online Entry Form, entries can be submitted by post.

 

Option A: EMAIL ENTRY

 

1. Read the terms and conditions thoroughly to check the author whose work is due to be submittedis eligible for the Award. Submission of an entry is taken as acceptance of all the terms and conditions.

 

2. Type and format the short story as per the following instructions:

  • One entry per author
  • Written in English
  • A maximum of 6,000 words
  • Typed
  • Font: Arial, 12pt, black
  • Double spaced
  • No page numbers
  • Include a front page which details the title of story and the word count ONLY. The author's name should not be included in the document.
  • No illustrations

 

3. Save as a Microsoft Word document (.doc or .docx) with the author name and short story title in the file name as per the following example: William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet (N.B. if the Short Story has already been published you can send the typeset PDF file instead, but Word documents are preferable).

 

4. Fill in the Entry Form below.

 

5. Send your story, with the author's name and short story title in the subject line of your email, and send to: sundaytimesEFG@booktrust.org.uk

 

Option B: POSTAL ENTRY

 

1. Read the terms and conditions thoroughly to check the author whose work is due to be submittedis eligible for the Award. Submission of an entry is taken as acceptance of all the terms and conditions.

 

2. Type and format the short story as per the following instructions:

  • One entry per author
  • Written in English
  • A maximum of 6,000 words
  • Typed
  • Font: Arial, 12pt, black
  • Double spaced
  • No page numbers
  • Include a front page which details the title of story and the word count ONLY. The author's name should not be included in the document.
  • No illustrations

 

3. Print ELEVEN (11) copies of the typed short story (single sided on white A4 paper).

Fill it in, including details of the author's record of creative writing publication in the UK or Ireland. Only one copy per Entry is required.

Please note

  • Incomplete Entry Forms and Short Stories not submitted in accordance with the Entry INSTRUCTIONS and Entry TERMS AND CONDITIONS will not be eligible for consideration
  • No entries can be returned

Due to the volume of Entries for the Award, there will be no acknowledgement of receipt for Entries submitted by post. Entries submitted by email will receive an automated acknowledgement
