However his enquiry uncovers more than he expects, and Christopher finds himself having to face some confusing and distressing truths.
The novel presents an utterly absorbing depiction of what it might be like to be confronted with the social niceties, confusing messages, ignorance and hostility of a society which does not understand autism. The simplicity of language and narration gives the book a sense of freedom and freshness, as well as making it extremely readable and accessible to a wide reading audience.
