The Orange Prize for Fiction was founded in 1996 to celebrate the best novel written in English by a woman of any nationality.
Now in its fourteenth year, the prize continues this work. Since 2005, Orange has also recognised emerging talent with the Orange Award for New Writers.
Booktrust has administered the Orange Prize for Fiction since it was first awarded in 1996, and the Orange Award for New Writers since its inception in 2005.
