Booktrust is calling for entries for the Booktrust Teenage Prize 2010.

Now in its eighth year, the Booktrust Teenage Prize is a national book prize that recognises and celebrates the best in contemporary writing for teenagers.  It is run with the support of The Reading Agency, which publicises the Teenage Prize in libraries across the UK, primarily through coordination with public and school library services.

We are delighted that the panel of five judges will be chaired by author Tony Bradman, and will include one of the teenage judges from the Booktrust Teenage Prize 2009 panel. The judging panel will be joined by another four teenagers, winners of a writing competition, to decide the winner.

The shortlist of six books will be announced early September and the winner will receive a cheque for £2,500, which will be presented at the awards ceremony in London in October.

Books published between 1 July 2009 and 30 June 2010 are eligible and the closing date for entries is 5pm Monday 8 March 2010.  Genres include fiction and non-fiction, including short story collections, graphic novels, poetry and reference books. They will be judged together.

Publishers can submit up to five titles per imprint.

For the purpose of the prize ‘teenage’ encompasses young adults between the ages of 12-16.
