Read this page aloud with a parent/carer. How does it sound? Try and find some missing rhyming words.
Here are some activities that you may find appropriate for some children with additional needs.
Turn over squares and match words with the same sounds.
'A TRUE friend can come in any shape or SIZE...' Read the big book version of Mr Big together, looking at the pictures which might show friends.
Re-read the book. Listen again to the page where the sloth speaks. Apart from giving the children the opportunity to enjoy the sounds in the words, talk about their meaning.
Can you match the words to the pictures? Colour in these pictures from Tim’s Din, then carefully cut them out. Put the pictures face down and mix them up. Turn them over one at a time to find the matching word for each picture.
Browse through the books together. Ask children to point to some big writing they'd like you to read. Read the question. Explain that you have asked a question. Show the children the question mark.
Can you say what you see on this page? Write the name of each thing in the box next to it. Three rhyming words are hidden in here. Can you draw a line between them?
