Booktime 2011 is launched
Lenny Henry is helping Booktime launch its 2011 programme on 9 Nov 2011.
Lenny read this year’s story book Why Elephant has a Trunk (Puffin) by Claudia Lloyd, to 30 excitable children from St George the Martyr school in Holborn.
With new market research suggesting that 86% of children laugh out loud when sharing a book with an adult and 83% wanting to hear more of the story, there really couldn’t be a better choice of reader.
Commenting on the launch event and Booktime programme Lenny said: “I’m delighted to help
launch Booktime this year. It’s a brilliant programme and anything that encourages children to appreciate
and enjoy books gets the thumbs up from me.”
Booktime will have gifted over six million books to families across the country over the last six years and will gift two books to reception children in England this year. The second title children will receive as gifts in their book packs is, Face painting (Pearson UK) by Monica Hughes.
