Kay Peddle Donates Prize Money to Help Fund Initiative
Kay Peddle, the winner of the 2011 Kim Scott Walwyn Prize, is to donate her prize money towards funding a paid internship in publishing.
Kay, editor at The Bodley Head, which is part of The Random House Group's Vintage Publishing company, received the £1,000 prize for her work on the Brain Shots series of ebooks earlier this year. The Prize recognises the professional achievements of women in publishing and the judges singled her out for her ability to explore new formats and to respond to the fast-changing market with great agility and flair.
The Random House Group has topped up the prize money to fund a one-off internship which will be aimed at an individual who might not normally be able to undertake publishing work experience. The 4-week internship will work with the editorial, marketing and publicity teams of The Bodley Head and Vintage as well as a one-day training course at the Publishing Training Centre.
