Denbighshire library service's Bookstart team have won an award for customer service at the local authority's inaugural Excellence Awards.
They were presented with their trophy by the chairman and chief executive.

They were nominated for
'...going above and beyond the call of duty to provide an excellent service, making a real difference to young children and families in the county’s most disadvantaged areas. They are recognised as a model of best practice in Wales and beyond. Over five years the number of families that attend their sessions has grown by 230%.
They have achieved this as much through their own drive, personality, commitment and foresight as by the strategic lead given by management. They are highly respected by partner agencies with whom they work closely.
They have been invited to give presentations about their work to education, voluntary sector and library conferences and to host training visits for staff from other authorities. They do everything with unbelievable energy, commitment, empathy, and sincerity.
They are driven by a deep desire to see families give children the very best start in life, to make the most of all the opportunities available in their local communities and beyond.'
As well as a fitting climax to her career for Bookstart worker Julia Parry before her retirement, winning the award also raised the profile of the library service in the corporate arena and demonstrated one of the ways in which libraries have an impact on people's lives.
Congratulations from everyone involved with Bookstart!
