Pearson wins Dragon Award

Pearson wins Dragon Award
4 October 2012

Congratulations this morning to our partners Pearson who have won a Lord Mayor's Dragon Award 2012 for their education work with Booktime!

The Lord Mayor's Dragon Awards celebrate Community Engagement programmes. The Awards recognise businesses and public offices that go above and beyond their core work to significantly impact the regeneration of their local communities.

Booktrust Chief Executive, Viv Bird said of the win:

Congratulations to Pearson for winning this prestigeous award. Booktrust is proud to have worked with Pearson over the last seven years through Booktime, a programme that has brought the pleasures of reading to millions of five-year-olds. Against stiff competition, winning the Dragon Award for the education category is a great testament to the strength of the partnership between Booktrust and Pearson. Our congratulations and thanks to the many Pearson employees from all parts of the company who work with us to make Booktime such a success.

Peter Hughes, Head of Corporate Responsibility at Pearson said:

Recognition by the Dragon Awards for the Booktime partnership in the week that Pearson, the Pearson Foundation and Booktrust together launched our newest initiative Read for My School is just amazing.  The award shines a light on the sustained commitment of the Booktime partners to work together to inspire a love of reading as well as helping to set the stage and a high bar for what we hope the new reading competition will achieve.

Booktime is the national free books programme for reception-aged children. Booktime provides a free book pack for children to share and enjoy with their family and friends. Booktime is run by Booktrust and Pearson, the world's leading learning company.
