The Day I Met Suzie

by Chris Higgins

Indigo has always had a soft spot for lost causes so when she meets drab little Suzie Grey no-one is surprised when she takes the girl under her wing. Bit by bit Suzie not only integrates herself into Indigo’s life, she starts to take it over. She gets the same haircut, enrols in same course in college, wears the same clothes, gets the same job in the same salon, hangs out with Indigo’s boyfriend and even moves in to Indigo’s home.

Yet as Suzie’s life improves Indigo’s seems to fall apart around her. Drowning in a seemingly inescapable spiral of lies, debt and shame Indigo finds herself resorting to extreme measures just to keep herself afloat. Just as she hits rock bottom she picks up the phone and calls the only person who can help her - a complete stranger.

This tense thriller is the sort of book you try to read in one go, just to find out what happens. As you follow Indigo on her horrific rollercoaster ride you will find yourself as desperate as she is for a solution to all her problems. Chris Higgins is reveals only as much as she wants the reader to know, leaving you as unsure of what is happening as the protagonist until the exciting climax. A thoroughly satisfying read.
