Pumpkin Pie

by Jean Ure

Some unpleasant comments from girls at school and an embarrassing incident relating to her weight lead a girl to start worrying about her self-image. She decides to try to shed some weight, and before long it becomes something of an obsession. The situation spirals out of control, until 'Pumpkin' (as she is known by her family) is struggling with a serious eating disorder.

This story shows that problems like bullemia can be resolved with the right support and Jean Ure's writing ensures the subject is handled delicated and appropriately, whilst remaining very readable and entertaining.
