The Comic Strip Book of Dinosaurs
by Tracey Turner & Sally Kindberg
One of a series of non-fiction books, which also includes The History of the World and of Space and Greatest Greek Myths, this is a fun and lively introduction to all things dinosaur.
Despite its title, it's not all, strictly-speaking, presented in comic strip format, but it is highly-coloured, attractive, accessible and full of interesting facts, encouraging 'dipping in' rather than reading through in one sitting. This perhaps justifies the unsystematic account of dinosaur evolution, and the appearance of dinosaurs from different eras on the same page. The lack of an index may render it unhelpful for research, but there is a thorough contents page which will be useful to readers looking for specific information. As well as plenty of facts about the dinosaurs themselves, the book also includes some details about the early dinosaur discoveries, and those who made them.
