The Empty Stocking

by

Richard Curtis

Illustrated by Rebecca Cobb

Seven-year-old twins Sam and Charlie might look alike, but they couldn’t be more different. Whilst Sam is well-behaved, Charlie is always naughty: she likes eating sweets, making a racket and getting up to all kinds of dreadful mischief. On Christmas Eve however, they are both equally excited, knowing that Father Christmas will soon be arriving to fill their Christmas stockings. But when Charlie wakes up in the middle of the night, she makes a devastating discovery. Only one of the twins’ has a full stocking stuffed with presents: the other is completely empty.

Award-winning writer and director Richard Curtis turns his hand to writing for children in this, his first picture book. Rebecca Cobb’s beautiful illustrations, which are full of character and humour, provide the perfect accompaniment to his delightfully old-fashioned and magical festive story. With a warm-hearted Christmas message that will appeal to parents and children alike, this lovely book is perfect for reading together during the festive season.
