Tall, Thin and Blonde
by Dyan Sheldon
Jen and Amy have been best friends forever and have always agreed about the shallowness of the stereotypical super-slim, pretty, blonde girls with too much make-up and too many teeth, who aspire to be ‘Miss Perfect Teenager’. Until now.
When the two start High School, Amy starts eating salad instead of burgers, bleaching her hair, obsessing about boys and trying out for cheerleading. Meanwhile, Jen struggles to keep up, and soon finds herself in the out crowd, sharing a lunch table with 'the Martians' – a disparate group of girls whose friendship is strengthened, rather than weakened, by their differences.
This witty celebration of individuality shows how old friendships can evolve and sometimes die away whilst new ones flourish. An entertaining story that provides some insight into the ups and downs of friendship and growing up.
