The Factory Made Boy

by

Christine Nostlinger

Illustrated by Frantz Wittkamp

Conrad is a perfect, factory-made boy who never does anything wrong. Although Mrs Bartolotti can’t remember ordering him, she is happy to have a son of her very own, even if he did arrive in a tin can. But Mrs Bartolotti leads a very chaotic life, while Conrad has been taught to conform all the time. Will they get along?

When the factory realises Conrad has been sent to Mrs Bartolotti by mistake, they are determined to take back their property. Conrad must learn quickly how to be rude, messy and disobedient if he wants to stay with his new family.

With original black and white line drawings, this funny and touching story from Hans Christian Andersen Award winner Christine Nostlinger has stood the test of time.
