Muddle and Win

by John Dickinson

Muddle is a demonic but well-meaning wart. Win is an over-achieving, sharp-suited angel. Both of them have been sent by their respective employers to capture the soul of Sally Jones

Sally is an unusually virtuous teenager for whom good deeds seem to come easily. What begins as a straightforward fight between good and evil becomes more complicated as the novel examines what motivates Sally to be good, and the strain it places upon herself and her family.

Muddle and Win balances light and dark with satisfying complexity.  A fast-paced, joke-filled opening gives way to a subtly-layered novel which questions the easy assumptions we make about ‘good’ and ‘bad’. A book that reminds us that we can all break our mould - and also that bosses everywhere are much the same (even in heaven!)
