Tell Me What it's Like to be Big
by
Joyce Dunbar
Illustrated by Debi Gliori
Little rabbit Willa just longs to be big. If she was big, she could reach up to the table and make her own breakfast; and she could turn on the lamp and the shower, and brush her teeth all by herself, just like big brother, Willoughby.
But after a frustrating morning, Willa realises being big also means no more toys, no more chicken slippers, and having to go outdoors alone. Despite Willoughby’s reassurances, a confused Willa needs Mum. 'Were you ever small? What did you do when you woke up too early?' asks Willa. 'I went straight back to sleep,' says Mum!
A gentle colour palette, engaging drawing, and witty details (such as Willa's radish pyjamas) complement this reassuring story about the frustrations and anxieties of being small, which is certain to resonate with young readers.
