The Duckling Gets a Cookie!?

by Mo Willems

The Duckling asks politely and is given a cookie. The Pigeon (famous for his appearances in many previous Mo Willems books) is more than a little put out by this – especially as the cookie has nuts.

There ensues an increasingly heated dialogue as the Pigeon becomes more and more indignant and enraged about his lack of cookies until the meek and indescribably cute Duckling takes the wind out of his sails and calm is restored.

Mo Willems’ trademark illustrations and sparse text convey a huge range of emotions in a strikingly minimalist style. The Duckling is a delightful new character who may be meek but does not lack initiative and provides an unexpected cheeky twist at the end.
