The Summer Gang

by Cornelia Funke

Living on a remote farm, Charlie wants nothing more than sneak off with a gang of friends for adventure. This summer she's going to make it happen, no matter what. Along with Izzie, Hannah and Xa she forms the C.H.I.X.; dedicated to fun and friendship. When her grandmother leaves Charlie in charge of the farm and a mysterious black key, it seems the time for adventure has arrived. If only they could keep Freddie's stupid boys gang, the Piranhas, from solving the mystery first.

Funke has combined all the key elements of a great girls' series in this energetic and quirky story. Her skilful writing lends the novel poignancy amongst the fun as the mystery is unravelled.
