When I Grow Up

Zephaniah and Das have collaborated on a non-fiction poetry picture book which  shows the life and work of 13 individuals, from diverse backgrounds, doing a variety of jobs.

To do so they combine facts, a lengthy poem about each person and their career, a simple outline illustration connected with the job, and a series of photos. The jobs include lawyer, pilot and lollipop man, farmer, illustrator and vet, including some celebrities.

With its mix of photos, illustrations, facts and poems, this non-fiction picture book has a strong multicultural and equal opportunities focus.
