Hunting Lila
by Sarah Alderson
Alderson gives us a debut novel which successfully combines teenage romance, adventure and science fiction.
17-year-old Lila’s mother is dead, killed by assassins who her brother Jack and his childhood friend Alex are tracking through their work with the US Marines. Her father is distraught at his wife’s killing, remote and rarely at home, so Lila runs away to join Jack. She discovers that she is not unique in having a paranormal gift, and that it makes her a target for her mother’s assassins, but that things aren’t necessarily what they seem, and that you must be careful who you trust.
A thoughtful, exciting, coming-of-age novel, which raises issues of ethics, being different and of loyalty. We look forward to the sequel.
