Tinga Tinga Tales: Why Monkeys Swing in the Trees
by
Claudia Lloyd (series creator)
There was a time when Monkeys didn’t swing in the trees. They used to stay on the ground and play.
The Monkeys love teasing Crocodile but the other animals warn them to be careful of his sharp teeth. When the Big Rains come and the animals are sheltering, the Monkeys continue to eat mangoes and get stuck up the mango tree. Crocodile decides to get his revenge but the Monkeys trick him and he chases them up the tree where they stay as they don’t trust Crocodile any more.
This entertaining story about why monkeys swing in the trees is part of the popular Tinga Tinga Tales series, inspired by traditional animal stories from Africa. The brightly coloured, vibrant illustrations are inspired by the Tingatinga artwork of Tanzania.
