One World

by Michael Foreman

Two children create an underwater world in their bucket, filling it with plants and creatures from a rockpool. However, as they realise that they have removed all life from the real pool, they notice an oily slick spreading over the water’s surface. They clear up the oil and return the wildlife to its natural habitat, with an increased awareness that the world is a precious place and must be cared for if it is to thrive.

By comparing the world’s environmental challenges with the plight of a polluted rockpool, Foreman enables children to understand the important role they play in protecting our planet. His distinctive watercolour illustrations complement the text perfectly, creating a thought-provoking tale with a poignant environmental message.
