Space School: Crash Course
by Tony Bradman and Tom Bradman
The first in the Space School series of very short novels starring Luke Riley, whose mum is the captain of the Buzz Aldrin, a spaceship cruising the universe following a pollution-related disaster on Earth.
More interested in playing computer games than doing his schoolwork, Luke inadvertently causes chaos in the ship's mainframe, and puts them on a collision course with a radioactive moon.
Luke dare not admit that he has caused the problem until he realises there are only seconds before they crash, and confesses, at which point his mother realises that Luke has learnt useful skills through playing on his games console.
Using a sci-fi setting, the Bradmans skilfully show the resolution of a dilemma familiar to the young reader.
