Coping with Chloe

by Rosalie Warren

The bond between twins is here examined in the person of twelve-year-old Anna, whose sister was killed a year ago in a road accident, but who is convinced still inhabits part of her brain, talking though her.

Warren's thoughtful novel shows us the devastating effect of this tragedy on the whole family, the father having left home for a younger woman, the mother unable to cope with the bereavement and her surviving daughter's needs, and the daughter herself who cannot accept her loss.

We see it all from Anna's viewpoint, with gradually we realise that Chloe is in fact a manifestation of Anna's failure to accept her sister's death, from which only another trauma enables her to move on.
