The Grizzly Bear with the Frizzly Hair
by Sean Taylor
With this lively retelling of a traditional tale whose variants are found all over the world, Taylor and Shaw create a tantalisingly terrifying tale in which ingenuity outwits greed.
When faced with an enormous bear determined to eat him, the rabbit keeps his head (literally) and talks himself out of the frightening situation.
The rhythmic, rhyming text makes this an excellent book to read aloud, encouraging the listeners to join in. The humorous illustrations dilute the scariness, and add plenty of detail for readers and carers to discuss.
Loud statements are in large bold type, quiet or frightened words are small, while some of the action appears in circles within the main spreads, the text written around the circumference.
