Mr. Aesop's Story Shop
by
Bob Hartman
Illustrator: Jago Jago
Ten of Aesop's fables are here retold within the framework of a storyteller who tells and sells his stories for a living. Hartman himself is a storyteller so is the ideal person to understand who Aesop was and why he told fables, as well as retelling them in an ideal way for reading and telling to others.
These are some of Aesop’s best known tales, and each is ended by a brief explanation of the point the story is making, which also forms an illustration. Aesop prefaces each tale with the same phrase, which explains who and what he is, and acts as the traditional verbal interaction between teller and listener.
The plentiful illustrations appropriately combine ancient and modern styles.

What you thought
Excellent, An unusual and clever way of putting together a collection of fables. My 3 yr old loves this book and regulary asks for the lion and the mouse or the fox and the crow (raven but close enough). We have had it from the library for a while now and I am considering buying a copy.
