The Ogre of Oglefort

by Eva Ibbotson

When the Hag, the Troll, Dr Brainsweller and a most unmagical orphan, Ivo, attend the Summer Meeting of Unusual Creatures they expect the Holiday Task to be something fun like dealing with a plague of jellyfish or sorting out a gang of cattle rustlers.

What they don't expect is to be despatched to dangerous lands to slay the flesh-eating Ogre of Oglefort and rescue the princess he is holding prisoner.

This is a captivating and humorous fantasy adventure with a wonderful cast of characters, a superbly layered plot and plenty of food for thought regarding identity, individuality, conformity and stereotyping. A magical and enchanting tale by one of the UK’s most beloved children’s writers.
