The Talent Show

by Jo Hodgkinson

When four friends see a sign for a talent show, they decide that they simply must enter!

They laugh at the small red bird who wants to join in too and head back to their house to practise together (‘the bear and lion, snake and croc played tunes that made the whole house rock’) but they soon realise that they are missing a vital ingredient – a singer!

Auditions are held and once again the friends reject the red bird, saying he’s just too small. However, the bird dons a cunning disguise, which helps him get into the band and prove that appearance should be no barrier to making really great music!

This humorous and delightfully illustrated book gently plays on the national obsession with talent shows but also carries a more serious message about looking for substance over style and the importance of working as a team.
