Jonathan Long was born in Birmingham, but spent his childhood in Nottingham. He gained a degree in English Literature at Cambridge University, and now lives in Hackney, London. He was inspired to write The Dog Who Could Dig by his mother's dog, which dug up her garden. The Dog Who Could Dig was shortlisted for the Kate Greenaway Award. Jonathan has collaborated with Korky Paul on several other picture books, including The Duck With No Luck and A Cat Called Scratch.
