Counting Birds
by Alice Melvin
This beautiful counting book opens with a vibrant cockerel crowing to welcome the day and ends with a solitary barn owl flying off the page and slipping into the night.
The other birds that populate the pages of this book take the reader up to the number 20 and include a colourful assortment of stately swans, handsome peacocks and bright pheasants.
Explosions of colour on each otherwise spare page, along with the illustrator’s use of stylish patterns and design, are extremely visually appealing and the rhyming text and detailed illustrations make this a great book for sharing.
