Where's Tumpty

by Polly Dunbar

One of Polly Dunbar's Tilly and Friends series, which follow the imaginary adventures of Tilly and her toy animals.

Gently funny, the whole series mirrors the games which small children like to play, and Tumpty the elephant likes to play hide-and-seek, but has difficulty in finding anything big enough to hide him.

When he does disappear, characters we meet in the other books search with Tilly to try to find him, and eventually he jumps up from behind the sofa, to surprise them all.

Dunbar's characteristic illustrations are particularly child-friendly, recognisably toy-based animals. The colours are soft and the print carefully used to indicate the tone of the narrative, becoming suddenly large when Tumpty jumps up, and even bigger when they see him.
