Auden has never felt like she fitted in; her academic parents insisted she focus on her studies, meaning she's always felt more at home with books than her peers.

With her brother off travelling the world and her mother preoccupied  by her work and students, Auden decides to go and spend the summer with her father, his new (much younger) wife and their newborn daughter, Thisbe, at their home in a seaside town.
