I Love Bugs

by Emma Dodd

A large, bright, creepy-crawly bug safari through a little boy’s garden, with a final spread which shows how we often react to them.

Dodd’s text is funny, rhythmic, rhyming and catchy, encouraging even the youngest to join in with a giggle or a shudder.

The print echoes its subject, large or small, while the full page spreads extend the text, allow readers to discover more within them, and relate to the everyday scenes she portrays.

There is extensive use of internal rhyme, and of alliteration, encouraging joining in, repetition and experimentation with language.

A book to intrigue, demystify and reassure young entomologists, as even the scariest insects are given friendly faces, and shown flying near or crawling on the boy.
