Spinifex, the King's alchemist, spends night and day trying to create a machine that will produce a limitless supply of gold. His assistant Arthur tries to tell him there are more precious things than gold, such as golden sunflowers, marigolds and canaries, but overcome by greed and desperation Spinifex will not listen.
