Red can see fairy creatures and most of them make trouble.

Orphaned and sent to a children’s home, she discovers children are being stolen by fairies. In spite of her efforts her own brother is taken too.

Red travels to the fairy court to negotiate her brother’s return and she is set the task of reassembling the charms of a magic bracelet, charms whose gifts have been twisted into curses.

With the help of children in this world, Red works at her task, learning much about herself and her own background along the way.

An absorbing read, this modern fairy tale has cruelty and trickery, sacrifice and pity. It stands alone, but is the second of a planned trilogy.
