Jolly Olly Octopus

A counting book with a difference, this poem-story incorporates rhythm, rhyme, onomatopoeia, alliteration, repetitive phrases and wonderfully bright, lively and funny illustrations.

As well as the counting in each page, there’s an ongoing challenge to find all the clown fish hidden throughout the book.

Olly’s infectious laughter spreads to a further ten varieties of underwater creature, each of which cavorts in its own special way.

Unfortunately all the noise and splashing attracts a shark, and the creatures hide in terror, but everything ends reassuringly happily.

A particularly engaging spread shows four loopy lobsters clicking scallops in their claws like castanets while Olly does some Spanish dancing, six of his tentacles curled up round his waist to make a tutu!
