Desi is dissatisfied with her teenage life, which lacks glamour, peer-popularity, money and romance. Yearning to be a princess, she is magically offered a role as a princess substitute, to stand in when a real princess wants to do something else.

She discovers that princesses’ lives can be as frustrating as her own, but in trying to help them she uncovers her own strengths and a new confidence.
