Red Riding Hood: A Pop-Up Book
by Louise Rowe
An updated and somewhat sanitised retelling of the classic fairy tale in which the woodcutter shakes the wolf to rescue Red Riding Hood and Grandma rather than cutting him open with an axe and Red Riding Hood learns a valuable lesson about not talking to strangers.
The story is depicted in sepia tones and presented as a pop-up book with some very impressive paper engineering: the scene where the wolf eats Red Riding Hood is positively terrifying.
Probably most effective for reading aloud to groups of children who will enjoy the 3D representations but not suitable for the very young due to the delicate nature of the pop-ups.
