The Liberators

by Philip Womack

Ivo Moncrieff is a reluctant witness to a brutal murder on the Underground and discovers that the victim was a stranger who had earlier begged him to look after a small and mysterious object for him.

Amid scenes of rioting and anarchy in the Capital, Ivo and his friends seek to track down the murderer and inadvertently uncover a sinister, ancient sect which threatens civilisation as we know it. The mysterious object becomes the key to vanquishing evil as the youngsters fight for their lives.

A superb idea and some wonderfully imaginative (although sometimes gratuitously gruesome) descriptive pieces are let down somewhat by gaps in the plot and insufficient respect for the intelligence of the reader.
