The Unfinished Angel

by Sharon Creech

Not all angels are divine and glorious; the angel in the tower at Casa Rosa is worried he lacks true gravitas and purpose, saying: 'I did not get all the training... maybe I am an unfinished angel.'

When talkative colourful Zola and her father move into the tower to open a school, the angel is increasingly challenged and puzzled by the unpredictable ways of 'peoples'. And when Zola discovers a group of runaway orphans, everyone in this rural Swiss village,
along with the angel, must decide how to put their beliefs into action.

Deceptively simple, full of wit, humour and insight, this decidedly non-preachy story about the nature of angels – and friendship, tolerance and understanding – is told with the lightest of touches.
