When rape and abuse make life in the real world intolerable for Liga, she is granted refuge in an alternate reality where she is able to raise her daughters in peace and safety.

As the years go by, however, the barrier between her personal heaven and the real world begins to crumble as it is continually crossed, both by accident and by design, until one day her youngest daughter steps across into a cruel and unprotected reality.
