Kit's Wilderness

by David Almond

When Kit moves to a village with his parents to care for his grandfather, he becomes involved with a dangerous boy who organises the Game of Death. After playing the game, Kit is haunted by the ghosts of children who died in the pits many years before. Superbly written, this is a dark, deeply moving tale of friendship and optimism.
