Dirty Great Dinosaur

by

Martin Waddell
Illustrator: Leonie Lord

Hal and his dog, Billy, are playing in the garden when a dirty great dinosaur barges in! He is hungry and threatens to eat Hal, then his mum, his dad and his dog.

Hal is brave and resourceful. After a chase, and with Billy’s help, he ties up the dinosaur with garden hose and reduces him to tears. He makes the dinosaur apologise for the mess he has made. The dinosaur is still hungry, so mum makes him dinner before he goes home. Mum and dad congratulate Hal and Billy for saving them from the dinosaur.

Infant classes will love the big, bright, pictures in this action-packed story about dealing with temper tantrums.

I was read to a lot as a child by people who knew how to read stories. These stories came alive for me, and the love of story has stayed with me ever since.
I live where I lived as a child, and nearly all my stories come from things that have happened to me here, at the foot of the Mountain of Mourne. I work in an old stone barn beside my home, and dream my stories in the garden and on long walks on the beach in front of my house. I never write anywhere else. This is where I belong.
