Ferocious Wild Beasts
by Christopher Wormell
A little boy's mother has warned him about ferocious wild beasts in the forest so when he finds himself lost there, he's afraid.
A passing bear enquires what's wrong and when he learns about the beasts becomes terrified, declaring: 'I think we'd better go.'
Elephant, lion, crocodile, wolf and python are also petrified to learn about the ferocious beasts. Suddenly, there's a blood-curdling noise and the animals flee, leaving the boy to face his wild ferocious mum!
This is a beautifully crafted marriage of deadpan text and wittily expressive illustrations. You just know from their gentlemanly language and the way they're drawn that these beasts aren't going to be ferocious - yet you're never quite sure how innocent this boy is!
Simple - and wonderful!
